40D Viewfinder Tip

Excerpts:
Today, i went to a photoshop to ask for a eyepiece magnifier for Canon.. Found out there is none.. only Nikon has it... But... I found that the Nikon Eyepiece magnifier fits perfectly onto the canon 40D surprisingly. No loss of corners and a rather significant difference in the viewfinder.
The Nikon Eyepiece magnifier i purchased was the DK-21M.
IIRC, the eyepiece magnifier for Canon is called the EP-EX15C or something like that. I have it on my 30D.
Why would you want a eye piece magnifier on yr 40D? using the live view for delicate focusing is much easier and accurate as it can magnify up to 10x.
The Canon EX15 reduced magnification by 30% instead of enlarging it

Currently, Canon does not have their own VF magnifier. Price i paid for the nikon variant is $40.
40D price dropping...

Good tips on lenses from John Freeman's "The Photographer's Guide to Composition"
I read from John Freeman's "The Photographer's Guide to Composition" that the ideal lenses to have to cover all sorts of ranges are:
17-35mm
28-70mm
70-200mm zoom
Excerpts:
The greater the range of lenses or the power of your zoom lens, the greater is your control over the final composition of your picture. A great combination of lenses is a 17-35mm, a 28-70mm and a 70-200mm zoom. These three lenses provide the focal lengths for just about any shooting situation, and if you also purchase a 2x extender, so that your 200mm becomes a 400mm, you are unlikely to need any other lens.
When purchasing any lens, always try to buy one with the fastest aperture you can afford: for example, a 28-70mm zoom lens that has a widest aperture of f2.8 throughout its range is much more versatile than one that goes from f3.5 at 28mm to perhaps f5.6 at 70mm, enabling you to shoot in lower light conditions - and the optics are also of a higher quality. However, the difference in technology required to achieve this increase in quality comes at a price, which can be considerable with some lenses.
